The reading done by Yedda Morrison was really good and interesting. When she first went up to the stage, she put out a lamp out. I thought that this created the effect of a camp. That was a really good idea. She picked readings from her book, Girl Scout Nation. One of the readings she read was one that we read in class, Robin's Hood. Part of this story, she sang of it. It made it really flow. There was another part from a different part of the book, she put on a veil over her face. It reminded me of a thing to protect yourself from the bugs.
She showed a lot of her art work, that I really liked. Most of the work was of flowers, a camp site and a nature. Some she used older pictures and really did them by using a computer. The pictures of the flowers are mostly ones that are really rare ones and hard to find. All of her work that she showed us, made me think that she is an of an Environmentalist. Everything she did was about nature. Overall, I thought that this was the best reading of the semester.

Absent
I was a freshman in high school when I found out. My dad picked me up from school to go to my ortho appointment. He was acting very funny to me and I didn’t understand why until after. We went to my grandparent’s house after to get my grandma’s address book. At the time, both of my grandparents were in Arizona visiting family. Then while we were there, it happened. I have only seen my dad cry once before this, telling me how proud he was of me. This time was very different. He sat at the end of my grandparent’s bed that used to be shared by two people. I went to him as he wept and he told me as I stood there. Tears did not fill my eyes, they were nonexistent. A heart had stopped beating. There was nothing there only a weeping father and a daughter trying to comfort him of an absent husband, father and grandfather.
In Matthew 27:46, Jesus says, “My God, my God, why have you abandoned me?” Just like anyone, if a parent turned their back on their own child, they too would feel abandoned. There is an absent part of him that is meant to stay with us and the other is to go up to heaven. It there is part of him missing to us.
When I am at school, I feel a bitterness of being lonely. I am no longer with the person that I fell in love with. That was my choosing to do that, but now there is nothing for me other than being lonely. There is no one that I can talk to about my day, laugh with or even cuddle with. There is just me and lonely. Maybe Lonely is a person, just giving me the company that I need. He or she would knock on the door, and I will greet them there just before they start knocking on the door. There I am able to have someone to talk to about a stressful day. I do have a lot of friends that I can turn too but they can’t fill in that spot in my heart that is missing. There is just that one person that is missing in my life that I have not found yet.
Ferris Bueller’s Day Off, is one all-time favorite movie. I love it that Ferris gets away with so much throughout the entire day. The dean of students knows that Ferris is up to something. I wish I could have missed school like that when I was in high school. I wasn’t really absent during school that much. Being absent just like would be such an adventure for me. There are a lot of life lessons, like his best friend Cameron. He has never stood up for himself, especially towards his father. I wish being absent would give me the direction that I need.

Don't Let Me Be Lonely
This was very sad Book. There was a lot of death in it. It is a little confusing to me. Why would she write something like this? Was it because there was something going on in her life? There is a lot of space on the pages but I think that it is necessary to have it there. There is a point to every page and they intertwine with each other. There seems to be chapters divided by blank televisions.
There were many movie and television references to death. There was the Sopranos. The Wild Bunch, where everyone died at the end. The movies, Fitzarraldo, which seems to be about art. There was the show, Murder as She Wrote, Boogie Nights and Magnolia. Some of these she watched with her friends that were either dying of cancer or were every depressed. There were also references to people that made the news. Timothy McVeigh, who I guess was a murderer and was put on death row. There was also Ruby Giuliani. Death occurs a lot in our daily lives and major deaths we here a lot on the news.
I found it really funny that it seems that she is not a very big fan of politics. Do believe that she doesn't like Bush (p. 21). She uses her mothers words to describe her feelings. "You don't know because you don't care." I am not a fan of fan, and he really didn't care.

A decision Made Without
Cassie!
What do you want?
If you ever think about touching my jersey again, you’re dead.
I don’t know what you are talking about.
You know perfectly well what I am talking about.
I can’t help that your team sucks money-balls.
What does that mean?
Haven’t you like lost every game on Friday...Yeah that’s what I thought….
Well….Why don’t you go off and learn to color in the lines?
I can’t help that I have more artistic ability than you. You don’t even know where you are going to college.
So what.
It does suck to be you.
No…No it doesn’t it….Did you hear that?
Hear what?
I think I heard mom and dad arguing.
…..You are right. They are really loud.
I am checking this out for sure.
Don’t you dare?
I will beat you up there!
Carlton move over I can’t hear….What are they saying?
………………………They are saying something about the lake.
What about the lake?
I think…I think they are fighting about selling it.
OH NO! They can’t do that, we love that place. We used to go every summer.
Maybe that’s the problem. We don’t go any more.
True we haven’t gone since we were kids.
I remember swing in the rope on the tree and jumping in the water.
I love the beach. It was so nice to be the only ones there.
What about the tall grass and getting bite by all those bugs or trying to catch those toads.
Gross, I remember that. I never did that. I am a girl you know, not a boy.
Every true.
We do have our memories.
They were good memories catching those frogs.
Maybe we should support mom and dad’s decision to sell it. There is no way of fighting it.
Agreed. They can make the decision without us. It’s only a sitting lake now that it doesn’t get the attention that it needs.
I wish they would ask us about it but they have more responsibility than us when it comes to the lake.
This decision is going to be made without us.
.........?

Toscano's Performance
This was a lot of fun to watch even if it was really hard to see and it was really crowded. It was better in a way to watch verse listening it in class. It was funny both ways but one of the performances I would not understand from even listening to it on a tape. Performing it gave it a lot more character than just starring at a white piece of paper with words on it.
It was still a little difficult in trying to figure out was going on. The Balm to Blink one is my favorite. There was another one that reminded me of a computer searching for the information that you click in and they are trying to rephrase what you are trying to type in. I wish that there was some more performances and an explaination of the stories.

Kapil Reading
I really enjoyed Kapil's reading. When she first came on the stage, she described our State (Michigana) as a dark state like she is in right now. She read from her book Humanimal: A project for Future Children. There was one similarity that stuck out to me with this book and the Incubation: A Space for Monsters. She uses a lot of color in the books to describe things, like colors pink and red. As she continued reading I never thought that somethings that were not related to each other could be related to each other.
The way she read her book really interested me. When there was something in the text, she would increase her voice level either higher or lower to give it some drama and effect. In her stories she uses a lot of life experiences. She talks about her family which includes the stories when she is growing up. She said that her father had died at age 50 because he was poor and from malnutrition. She also did something for National Geographic. They filmed the wolf girl with her in it. She wrote about it in this book. She ended by giving advice for writing. She told everyone that when you are the moment of writing, and you lift your pen from the page there is a vertical moment, and things come to mind.

Incubation Reading
After the discussion in class, it helped me a lot more in understanding the reading. I didn't realize that there was a story there. I thought that it was just another book about how to write and not really a story itself. This story was truly a Innovation Fiction. I didn't know that there were different types of fiction, I just thought that it was just fiction. The author was writing was telling us a story but also telling us a story within itself. I have never thought that i would read a story like this before, it just got interesting to me when we discussed it in class.
With the themes, I didn't know that there was so much red in it, like on page 27, when she removed her dot on her forehead. Who was Laloo? In our discussion, I learned that she was the childhood of the author. Even towards the end of the book, i wish that we could know more to what happened to Laloo, whether she died or not.
